If you’re looking for some good news in these uncertain times, consider this: Local News viewership is up. Dramatically.

Viewers may feel helpless, but you can give them a voice. Now, more than ever, live polling gives your expanded audience a chance to share their thoughts; including feelings of frustration, anxiety, and alarm.

WXYZ Detroit, for example, has been setting record engagement levels this month. Following a recent protest in Lansing, tens of thousands of viewers voted in a poll asking if Governor Whitmer’s stay-at-home restrictions should be eased.

Social Voting

The key to boosting participation is making it as easy as possible for your viewers to vote.

WXYZ consistently follows Megaphone’s best practices for social voting. They share the link to their voting page on Facebook and Twitter to bring their social audience to WXYZ.com.

Additionally, they include links to their polls in posts about the related story on their website.
