TVNewscheck recently covered an interactive watch party hosted by our partners at Nexstar Media Group. WCMH in Columbus, Ohio live-streamed two, first of its kind, interactive Democratic Presidential Debate specials on Oct. 15, 2019. The must-see events were syndicated across the Nexstar group, including all of Nexstar’s Ohio-serving stations websites – WJW, WDTN, WTRF, WKBN, and WOWK.

The first event featured was a pre-debate digital-only special anchored by NBC4’s Colleen Marshall from Otterbein University from 7:35 p.m. – 8 p.m. EDT. Once the debate began, NBC4i produced a digital, interactive watch party.

Total streams were about 100,000 people watched and total actual interactive users were over 15,000 by the end of the debate. So I would definitely call it a success.”

The NBC4i watch party livestream included an interactive overlay where virtual attendees rated the candidates and moderators using a “mood meter” dial that showed results in real-time. The interactive overlay features were provided through a digital streaming deployment specially developed for through Megaphone TV.
