Pioneering Second Screen Live Audience Participation Technologies Showcased in 2015 “Arizona Bowl” on American Sports Network

NEW YORK (December 29, 2015) – Megaphone TV’s Emmy(R)-award winning technologies took to the gridiron on December 29th during American Sports Network’s broadcast of the NOVA(R) Home Loans Arizona Bowl. The contest featured Mountain West Conference rivals Colorado State University and the University of Nevada in a nationally broadcasted matchup in Tucson, Arizona.  The dramatic come-from-behind win for Nevada capped a game which featured interactive audience participation throughout the event.

Megaphone TV’s audience-engagement products were executed live both before and during the game, which was available through live streaming on and, in more than 88 million homes on satellite TV through Dish Network and DirecTV, and through broadcast TV in major markets in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, and the San Francisco Bay area. The game was also televised in the team-centric markets of Reno, Las Vegas, Denver, and Colorado Springs.

By joining a simple URL (without requiring a separate app download), viewers received live poll questions and registered votes by pressing a button on their device. The polls ran in real-time, and results were displayed simultaneously both on-air and on the web in mobile devices, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers alike.

Before play, the live audience was given a voice in several interactive experiences. Inter-team rivalries came head-to-head when audiences, through Megaphone TV’s “Face Off” product, were asked to vote on which Nevada player (Don Jackson or James Butler) would receive more carries during the game.

During play, audiences continued to receive opportunities to express their opinions, including:

  • In the 2nd Quarter, recognizing a good passing-game strategy by CSU Quarterback Nick Stevens, audiences used Megaphone TV’s “Reader’s Choice” product to guess how many passing yards Stevens would earn by the end of the game.  
  • In the 4th Quarter, audiences, through Megaphone TV’s “Guess Gauge” product, were invited to share their opinion on the selection of the game’s MVP, with voting averages and results displayed in real-time on across television, mobile devices, tablets, and computers.
