WJXT of Jacksonville saw a 1000% increase in audience engagement for their Oh Say Can You Sing competition.

So, if you’re looking for inspiration on how to boost audience engagement beyond news polls and trivia, this blog is for you!

WJXT recently had their annual Independence Day singing contest where the winner was chosen by viewers using Megaphone TV’s secure voting system.

The winner would receive $500 and sing the national anthem on their 4th of July Fireworks Show coverage.

Initially, they asked contestants to submit their renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner via video via the WJXT website.

WJXT judges then narrowed it down to the final four: Clifton Daniels, Nathan Elwood, Khloe Grace, and Alec Webster.

The finalists then sang live on WJXT, and home viewers voted for who they thought was the best.

Over 36,000 votes were cast, resulting in a 1000% increase in audience engagement from 2021!

This should be great news for Papa Johns, who sponsored this year’s event!

But the ability to run such a contest is not unique to WJXT.

Voting functionality is built-in to Megaphone TV, and any subscriber can use it to engage audiences.

Contests like the one WJXT ran are excellent ways to connect with your viewers beyond the news and to develop deeper ties to your communities.

Ensuring that your viewers have a say in the outcome of live events is also a great way to engage sponsors with fun and exciting content that keeps audiences hooked throughout a broadcast.

And the winner of this year’s Oh Say Can You Sing? Clifton Daniels stole the show – and the hearts of WJXT viewers!
